Healthy fats in our daily diet

Fat has been treated for many years as an unnecessary or even harmful component of our diet. Low-fat products have become very popular in the USA, the result of which is the epidemic of obesity that we may currently observe. It turns out that fat is essential for the proper functioning of many organs and also… to maintain an appropriate body mass.

Vegetable fats, especially virgin oils, contain a lot of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which positively influence the state of hair, skin and nails. They also decrease the risk of developing inflammations and provide important vitamins soluble in fats. The most valuable oil to use in cold meals are rapeseed oil, linseed oil, olive oil, camelina oil or natural sunflower oil. Oils of this type lose their valuable properties under the influence of high temperature.

Marine fish oil contains large amounts of healthy fat, which has extremely positive influence on the circulatory system. For this reason, we should eat fish as often as possible.

Animal fats contain some cholesterol, but also saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. People with a tendency to obesity and circulatory system diseases should limit the amount of such fats, but for healthy people, they will constitute an important source of energy. The advantage of animal fats is the fact that we may fry on them in high temperature.

To the group of healthy oils we definitely cannot classify oil, which have been processed. Margarine, oils for frying in high temperatures or hardened fat have extremely bad influence on the organism.
