Healthy eating without sugar
Sugar is a product of modern times, which may be defined as the most unhealthy product that have ever appeared. The human diet, before sugar became so popular, was poor in carbohydrates – they appeared only in the form of fruits. Today, we may buy sweets in every shop, full of carbohydrates in such a high dose that our organism barely manages to process.
The excess of sugar in our diet may lead to the appearance of such diseases as obesity and insulin-resistance, which are an indirect cause of metabolic syndrome, which leads to serious diseases and death.
Can we live without carbohydrates and sugars?
If you are used to eating sugar and sweets frequently instead of regular meals, quitting sugar may seem a very difficult challenge to you. However, it is worth taking this challenge, as with each subsequent day of sugar abuse, the state of your organism is deteriorating. Appetite for sweets may mean that your diet is lacking in important macronutrients, such as protein and fat.
Sugar in its simple form should be eliminated as soon as possible, as it causes the largest damages in the organism. If you feel appetite for sweets, eat a regular, nutritious meal, which contains a large portion of fiber.
Fighting with the habit of adding sugar to coffee and tea may require time. Start from decreasing the amount of sugar added to these drinks and then totally eliminate it.
Don’t forget that carbohydrates are also present in white bread, pasta and other products made of white flour. We should limit the amount of such products in our diet, as they are the source of empty calories and they contain almost no valuable ingredients.
It is a good solution to become acquainted with low-carb diets, such as Atkins diet, Kwasniewski diet or Dukan diet.
