Shelves in the supermarkets tempt us with billions of products from various parts of the world. Today we will discuss shopping in such a way, as to not do harm to Mother Nature.
Buy products with the lowest level of processing.
Natural meat, vegetables by weight (not processed vegetables on ready-made trays), fruits from the market - these products come from nature. Thanks to this, they are not only cheaper, but you may be sure that they don’t contain various unnecessary substances. However, avoid buying preserves, instant products or ready-made dishes, as their contain a lot of preservatives, salt and added sugar. When cooking at home on the basis of raw products, you are 100% sure what is on your plate and you omit a lot of harmful additives.
Buy local products.
Products from warm countries need to cover a long way before they reach Poland. During transport, some measures prolonging food durability are applied, due to which it can no longer be called nutritious. When buying products from local producers, you also decrease environmental pollution from exhaust fumes of trucks.
Do not waste food
Today food is cheap in proportion to earnings, however, it doesn’t mean that we should buy food for days and then throw away the products that we haven’t managed to eat. It is a better solution to do smaller, but more frequent shopping. If you stockpile, choose products with later expiry dates, however, pay attention whether any preservatives were used.
