I often watch shows and movies on my computer. But really the only thing that determines whether I watch it online or on a TV is whether or not I'm at school, because at school, I don't actually have a TV. Oh, and whether or not what I'm watching is even on TV -- I watch a lot of stuff that is no longer aired on TV and therefore it's a million times easier to watch it on my computer.
I almost never watch TV on my laptop unless I want to catch something I missed on Hulu. I've occasionally wondered if I could replace my satellite with whatever is online but not sure if there are any live sports.
I almost never watch TV on my computer when it comes straight from the internet. Usually Hulu and all those fancypants TV sites load horribly slow for me and the buffer takes forever. Also, I dislike the commercials. If it's a show I really like, I'll get the DVDs at the end of the season. If it's a show I didn't like so much, it doesn't bother me that I missed it. I also watch a lot of TV in real time on my real TV, so there's that factor as well.
When I'm with my mom, we always watch movies or TV on DVD in our living room. Our TV may be older, but it's still quite functional and nothing beats sitting around on the couch watching something together. It's generally our late night "thing", we've been doing it since high school. I got my night owl status solely from my mom and her late-night DVD habits.
When I'm by myself, I always watch my movies or TV on DVD by myself, on my computer. Generally the chair is comfy enough for me to lean back in for a few hours and since I have a duel monitor system, I can always do something else in the background. When I was in college, this was the only method for watching movies and I've gotten used to it.
I watch movies all the time on my laptop when I can't sleep and everyone else in the house is sleeping. I watch movies on my laptop quite a lot actually. When I watch on my TV usually my parents are awake. I watch movies on my laptop when my parents are asleep. That's the difference between movies on my laptop and watch TV while everyone else is awake.
I used to watch TV on my computer a lot, but since there are so many shows that look interesting to me I've stopped and will just wait to get a season on DVD from netflix and watch that way. I have, however, been watching older seasons of some shows that are streamed on Netflix (right now I'm on Deadliest Catch) and that's good for a few hours of action.
It is very, very rare when I watch TV shows on my computer. Apparently, you have to have a powerful computer to do that. It is always choppy and there is apparent away to make it better. Of course, I want quality and more smooth clips if I am watching something like that. Other than that, the TV is 25x better than watching on computer.
Um, since I don't have a functioning TV at all anymore (thanks, Congress) I'd say I watch 100% of my TV shows online. And I love it! I can pause, rewind, and watch on my own schedule, all without paying the costs of Tivo. Say goodbye to the days when TV dictated our schedule, and TV shows had to compete head to head against one another. I don't even know which days my fave shows come on anymore; it's become totally irrelevant. Would have killed for this back in college and high school.
On another note, O-frickin-MG but it is coming down out there. This peculiar white stuff coming down to coat Austin so thoroughly must be a harbinger of something strange indeed. I've only ever seen weather like this when I was in Colorado, with skis strapped to my feet.
Um.. Bo likes using The Return of Ham-Sandwich REBORN! better then using telly downstairs. Why? Umm... Because she doesn't have to move from her spot and can still multitask when she watches movies~ Especially since she has megavideo account that is paid for~! ^^
All the time! I have no choice though, since everything I like to watch is in Korean or Japanese. I'm a big Kpop and Jrock fan, and I watch lots of live perfomances and interviews, as well as movies, variety shows, and dramas when I have the time.
Well if it's about a celebrity I like (for instance Jang Geun Seok from 'You're Beautiful) I would watch it on my computer; however if it's an episode of 'Criminal Minds' then it will be watched on my television. I guess the determination is language then, haha!
Honestly, I rarely watch shows or movies on my computer. However, when I do, the decision is based on the lack of a free tv set in my house. My teenage sisters tend to hoard the tv sets, and if they're not the ones hoarding it, then their father is so that he can watch his sports or sci-fi shows. Generally, it is easier for me to watch a rented dvd on my computer so that I don't have to fight for time to watch it.
If I'm very lucky I'll watch a DVD every other week. I can't watch TV because I don't have broadband or any other method of getting programming in a useful manner. I've got a stack of about forty DVD disks I need to see but haven't had the opportunity to do so.
I watch tv shows and movies on my computer daily because I live with my 6 children and my husband. So most of the time they rule the TV. It sort of works out though because I am a HUGE fan of Richard Dean Anderson and I have all of his wonderful work on here. The other benefit is that there are no annoying commercials to have to sit through.
Well lets start off with my tv and dvr have taken over my life. I don't do anything on week nights except come home from work and clear off my dvr which never ends... I watch way too many tv shows, but it truely gives me joy and happiness. I guess I'm lonely and having a million different shows to watch keeps me busy. So, to answer this question, since I only have a dvr in my livingroom, once I'm in bed I can't watch anything taped, which if i could I wouldn't have this problem and my dvr would always be clean. so, I watch shows on my laptop that I know have a good reception (abc, mtv, vh1 and lifetime) Fox stinks! It always takes forever to load and freezes all the time. I love watching it on my laptop if I have to. I only watch movies on there if I'm away, traveling, ect. So tv networks would be smart to put all shows online, for example I had to give up a cW show becaue there video player doesn't work at all. Also, i'm more apt to watch a channel 7 show because I know their player is great. I'll also re-watch Lost on there just for fun if I'm cooking, ect.
It depends. If I'm trying to watch an entire season, I'll download online. Consequently, if I want to watch a specific movie, I'll download online. I usually watch TV when I lounge around the apartment, while eating dinner, or when I want to watch something specific like Colbert Report, John Stewart, CNN, The Office, or House.
I've only watched one movie on my computer....and i would have to say my chair determines whether i watch on my computer or the tv...seriously this chair friggin sucks!!!! TV you totally WIN! WOOHOO
Mostly I watch TV shows (Bones, CSI, Simpsons, etc) online and movies on the TV - which sounds a little backwards. I live in an area where the only signal that would be available for television channels like NBC or CBS - is DTV or DISH; and quite frankly I don't want the headache. So, yes I have to go without Big Bang Theory and other shows that aren't currently available online until the DVD comes out but its not that big of a worry. The nearest town to me has a movie theater and four video rental places, so its not like I go without :o)
Pretty often. Our DVR only records 2 shows at once, and hubby usually insists it be his shows. So any show that can be watched online does. Which sucks because it slows our computer down more than it already does
I like NEVER use my TV anymore. Because when you watch them on your computer, you can watch it whenever you want. And pause it whenever you want. Plus I have stuff to do after school. So I miss my shows. Also, I don't have some channels, so if I want to want certain shows I HAVE to watch it online.
i usually watch stuff on tv, but if i miss a show and it's online, i'll watch it. i don't watch movies often on my comp, sometimes on websites that have movies that are still in theaters, or on netflix instant play if i don't feel like waiting for the dvd to arrive. as far as dvds go, if i'm in a situation where i don't have a tv or dvd player, then obviously i'll have to use my comp! but my laptop isn't my preferred method of watching tv shows or movies.
-------------
i started "get in shape for florida" time yesterday. basically this consists of working out (going to the gym and doing dvds at home) on a regular basis and not eating a ton of crap. obviously i am not going to go too over the top, since i know myself, and that never works. i did well yesterday. today was fine, i'm going to do my new denise austin dvd in a little bit. if i make it through this week doing well, then i'll have a cookie or something delicious. yup. i have about 2 1/2 months, i'm shooting to lose about 10lb, since that's realistic. more would be awesome, but who knows. i'm not obsessing about it, bc that makes the whole process a lot worse.
i've been approached already by several girls asking me to be roommates (i'm in the group on facebook, so that's how i have contacted these people). while i would like to think they just want me bc i'm awesome, i'm assuming it's really bc i'm over 21. one of the girls wants to live at vista (the complex i lived at last time), which i don't want to live at (nothing wrong with it, i just want something different) and tells me her and the other girls she got together are all huge party animals and do that every day, and are planning on having people over a LOT. so no. i like partying occasionally, but no way do i love doing it every night, esp since i might be working early in the morning. another girl was like in her 30s, so i thought that would be...not weird...but idk, i would rather have a roommate my age who i could really relate to. one or two others were okay. but another one i've been talking to a lot and she's really nice, so i prob will end up living with her and 2 other girls at chatham (the complex i DO want to live at). idk. i have time to think about it.
Almost never. I try not to even open my computer when I'm at home since I sit in front of it all day long at work. That being said... It is nice to bring it on vacations or trips to Tahoe so I can watch my Netflix in bed.
I WOULD love to be able to connect my computer to my TV so I could watch Netflix that way, but I am technologically incompetent.
Since my sister and her homophobic husband have literally destroyed the cable connection in the living room, just so I can't wach TV, plus the fact I hate going to the movies, I generally just google everything online. Look for anything long enough, and you will find it.
I watched Doctor Who on my computer during winter break, which was nearly a month long. I have a TV, but I only use it for DVDs. Now you have to buy some sort of box in order to watch even network TV, and Whiteboyworld Media doesn't strike me as that worthwhile. Besides, if I want to watch the Daily Show with Jon Stewart or some other show, I can do it on the Internet.
On occasion. Most of what I watch is on TV, but I love watching DVDs on my laptop when I get a chance - the headphones make for a complete immersion into the world of the movie that's unbeatable.
I usually watch TV shows on the TV, I watch music videos and funny skits on the computer :)
Whether I watch something on TV or my computer depends on the length of the show/skit/etc...if it's short I'll watch it on the computer, if not, I want better quality/larger screen :D
I take care of an elderly parent so it all depends on who wins rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock. If I win we watch whatever show I'm currently addicted to, if they win I go to my room and watch stuff on Hulu. Sometimes the shows we love mesh, usually not. I have my own TV and DVD player in my room, but don't watch much shows, usually just play video games on it. I'm an internet junkie so I prefer to surf than watch shows on the computer. Although, I have been going a little retro and watching classics and previous seasons of my fave shows on Hulu.
This answer is as important as the TV itself, as the printing press. Live television is, frankly, an obstacle to be overcome by humanity. We can do better than having anyone arbitrarily determine what we can watch and when.
I watch the judge shows and KPBS on live tv. All the rest is online or DVD.
I usually watch more TV on TV...but sometimes when I miss a show then I can watch it on the computer. I like following the Bachelor (for instance) even though it is my guilty pleasure show to watch (plus there was a girl named Gia competing this year...yeah...I don't look anything like her)...but now I can catch up with the episodes if I missed one. Sometimes, though, some shows are not on the computer, like BBC America's UK Antique Road show...I was disappointed as I wanted to see the episode about the lady that had an actual picture of fairies....I really wanted to post or repost about that. My husband on the other hand watches NCIS on the computer all the time or sometimes he watches Smallville on the computer. I think because he sometimes falls asleep while the show is on TV, so he can watch full episodes on the computer (sorry for sharing your secret sweetie)...
I'll watch TV on my laptop if I've missed it when it airs live and I have the time to catch up. If the TV in the common room is free (rarely is) and don't have much due in the immediate future, I'll watch a show live. This semester I've barely had the time since to do either since I'm taking 17 credits. I'm behind on just about all of the shows that I watch.
I watch them every so often. Usually, it's Tom who is watching something on his computer and I turn around to look. Recently, I've watched True Life online because they have full episodes available at my convenience. But really, if I can watch it on my laptop while I play WoW on the desktop, I'm set. :p I have an atennae/box for when I want to watch PBS upstairs but really the cable tv downstairs doesn't get as much use as my computer. I don't have the same desire to sit on the couch that I used to. I like to be able to play my game, look up things online, and watch a movie or show at the same time. Being engaged in my entertainment seems much more enjoyable.
I used to watch shows on my computer a lot more; lately it's just if I miss an episode on (scheduled) TV. I like having the flexibility to watch whenever I want, not to be tethered by network programming.
Le'see... I don't watch many television shows, to be completely honest. I love love love love Doctor Who, but I honestly don't watch much of it. I mean, I steamed through seven seasons in a couple of months, watching it in 10 minute video segments on the internet, but that is about it. However, if I do want to watch something specific, I definitely use my computer, if it is working and will be kind to me. If I am bored or want to watch something that may teach me a thing or two, I will watch television, since the only channels I get are 3 PBS stations. So... yeah. The computer totally wins because I can watch Tom Baker, Peter Davison, or anyone else whenever I feel like it. (What can I say? I love my strange obsessions.)
I watch Torchwood and Fullmetal Alchemist on Youtube. I can't really watch Torchwood on TV cause I live in the US. I can watch FMA episodes online before I can watch them on TV so I prefere to use youtube even though the episodes are in Japanese with english subs.
Not that its the same thing, but I only rarely watch actual tv shows on the net,I watch a lot of the stuff on thatguywiththeglasses (one guy does a reading of bad fanfiction in bad fanfiction theater, its great) Other stuff I tivo and watch later on tv.
If you're talking about streaming live things, then I watch basically nothing on the TV. At the Bungalow the TV is mainly just used for video games or watching dvds as a group. I'm about the only person who watches actual tv on the tv here, and that's basically just when I want background noise and am tired of listening to music.
Even on the computer though, I only watch a few tv shows. Just Lost, So You Think You Can Dance, Dr. Who, Torchwood, and a handful of various anime. I find that I lack the patience for much else, and even will find myself getting distracted and antsy when I watch shows I do like. I'm not sure if it's a sign of the quality of tv now a days, or if it's me.
Even as a kid, I can't remember being really that into tv shows. I'd catch a handful of episodes here and there, but rarely would watch entire series. I remember liking shows like Hercules, Xena, and Star Trek Next Gen, but I doubt I've seen all of them even of the seasons I did watch. Only when I got into anime did I really get into watching full seasons, and even then I'll lose interest if it's longer then 24 episodes. One Piece I think is the only exception, and I'm still wicked behind on that.
I've realized that I have periods of liking things. I'll play video games everyday for a month, then never touch one for a year. I'll go weeks of constant cartoons and anime, then drop even the ones I like for months. I'll draw every second I can manage for days, then loathe pencils and art for weeks. I get bored of everything if I'm at it long enough. I don't have an obsessive or passionate personality I suppose.
My husband and I watch current television programs through Hulu and older TV and movies from Netflix, whether via DVD or streaming through our Playstation 3. Aside from a brief trial run with AT&T Uverse, we haven't had paid television service in several years.
I hardly watch tv on either, but we try to watch our Bones DVDs many times during the week. Once a week we have been watching 30 Rock and Castle on Hulu. We should be getting the first 3 seasons of 30 Rock in the mail soon. It all depends what is available on DVD sets or not.
Well, some shows I have to watch on my computer, like Queer As Folk. I watch things like the news, Glee, and Flash Forward on TV (unless I'm watching my DVDs of Glee - then I'm watching them on my computer). It all just depends on what the show is, and where I can get it.
I love to watch movies but I usually watch them in the theater first. Eventually I will watch them on my tv though. I never watch movies on my computer. It's just too uncomfortable to sit there for an hour and a half.
I watch more movies than TV shows on my computer, but that's because the movies are ones that I don't own, don't have the money to buy, or can't get from the library. As for TV shows, I usually only watch the latest How I Met Your Mother, because I never remember to watch it on Monday nights. However, when season five of Doctor Who starts, I'll be watching that online, as my basic cable package doesn't include the BBC channel.
almost everyday. I watch desperate housewives, house md, project runway, and manswers. The fact that I don't have cable determines whether or not I watch it on my computer, lol.
Used to be I didn't watch much at all, but now that I've found some stuff online I can't find on my TV, I tend to watch a lot online now.
I suppose my determining factor is whether I can see it on TV or not. Stuff like Axis Power Hetalia? Online. A lot of old anime isn't on tv anymore, so I go to places like ZOMGanime to watch it. A lot of that's in the original Japanese too... Japanese Sailor Moon FTW! Also, I've been watching the first season of Pokemon online (in Japanese), and I find myself falling in love all over again. (although my first love on that front is getting to watch Mewtwo Returns in the original Japanese...*wibbles*) Haha, I'm such a geek. <3
Basically, if I'm trying to catch up with a show, or watch the old shows that don't play on TV anymore, I'll watch them online.
It depends. If I've missed something that I regularly watch on TV, then I'll watch it online. Like an episode of "the Office" or "Big Bang Theory" or something like that. And I always watched shows on my computer during the school year, because I didn't have a tv. And when I didn't have a TV, I'd watch movies on my computer. It really all depends.
I'll usually watch something I've recorded on my DVR since 9 times out of 10, the show I want to watch is on while I'm working, but every now and then, my DVR will screw up or I'll just forget. Thats when I try to watch shows, like NCIS, Hell's Kitchen, etc. on my computer. Sci-fi channel still has the best site for this in my opinion, enjoyed watching Eureka online for a while there.
I use the PC to watch TV shows and movies due to not having cable or satellite at home. It helps me keep up with my favorite shows. PC helps me with movies and TV shows all the time because I have Netflix. Through Netflix live streaming, I can catch up with past seasons of CSI so that I can find out the continuous story lines that I have missed when not having access to a TV to watch it over the years.
Almost exclusively, TV show-wise. I generally don't buy cable/dish services, so price would be the deciding factor in how I watch stuff; no sense in paying for cable if I'm already paying for internet.
Jeg ser veldig lite tv sånn i det hele tatt.
Romkameraten liker Grey's Anatomy
og Private Practice,
og de kan jeg stå ut med å se på,
bare for å gjøre noe sammen i blant.
gått forbi BBC i kvalitet.
NRK er simpelthen best.
Hvor mange timer det blir tilsammen?
Ett par timer to til tre ganger i uken.
Men tv'n står på oftere enn det.
I watch Movies quite often on my computer. Mostly it depends on where I am, or if I want to lay in bed to watch a movie, as I don't have a TV near my bed..
As a person that does not have internet access at home, I mostly watch TV shows on the actual television. It's just easier. While yes, it is depressing that I do not have internet, I manage.
I don't watch many TV shows or movies on my computer, since I try to watch them on tv or in the movie theater when I can. If for some reason I miss the show due to being busy, or if it isn't readily available to view it, then I watch the shows or movies on my computer.
I don't watch TV shows on the computer often. When I do, it's either because the show doesn't come on TV anymore or because I missed an episode. I can sometimes find an episode of a show I miss if it's not going to come on TV again. I love to watch shows I watched when I was younger on youtube. I think it's nice people bother to upload them. The graphics aren't great, but it's better than nothing.
I watch TV shows on my computer constantly. I love the concept and the flexiblity. I even love getting to watch old TV dramas that I didn't catch the first time around. The reason I watch tv shows on my computer is my husband is not one for dramas. He watches the fluffy stuff. Stuff you really don't need much thought for. Usually, I like fluffy stuff, but lately I've gotten into medical dramas and though they are scary since the instances can happen in real life, I enjoy seeing the "behind the scenes" characters - it reminds me that the medical professionals are not gods, nor can they just look at you and make you better.
It depends: If the TV Show no longer airs on TV, then, yes, I do. If the show is an Anime, and not released in The US, then, yes. However, most of the time, I watch TV Show on TV. I like watching my programs on a big screen, without having to wait for them to buffer.
Currently I only really watch shows on TV. Can't nurse comfortably on the computer. :( If only I had a laptop!
I used to watch all my Korean dramas on the computer daily. Now since I am nursing a million times a day I watch way to much TV on the TV...like Jersey Shore, Mystery Diagnosis, Survivor, Gossip Girl, Project Runway, Rupauls Drag Race...the list goes on...
If I am dying to watch an episode I missed and its not on demand I will try to find a place to watch it on the web.
I watch pretty much everything on my computer. I live in my parents' basement (LOSER!) and the TV down there is an ancient castoff 13 inch tube TV. Needless to say, I hate watching stuff on that. My computer monitor is a crisp widescreen so it has great picture quality. So, if It isn't included in my household's extremely limited cable package or is something that would offend my hardcore religious parents, I watch it on my computer. So, basically, everything.
i like to listen to movies or tv shows on my computer. ill throw on buffy while im doing other things and just listen to it cause i know whats going on =)
I'm an absolute TV junkie. I admit it, and people say that's the first step. But no one ever mentions the second or third steps...Anyway, My main TV shows are House and Lie to Me. I absolutely ADORE Kelli Williams so I decided to look up some of her other work and now I watch The Practice and Medical Investigation on the computer. Basically, older shows I watch on the computer. Ones with new episodes or that are still on going I'll watch on TV. The only time I don't watch new episodes on TV is because they air on a channel that I do have, like Nurse Jackie (I'm so into medical dramas...I don't know why) on Showtime. :)
I watch both movies and tv shows on my computer. More often on the computer then on tv. For tv shows, the main reason I watch them on the computer is either, its a tv series no longer on the air or I'm at school when the new episode is aired, so I watch it later online. Movies, it just depends on my mood as to whether I watch it on the computer or the tv.
I watch both on TV about 95% of the time. I suppose if I missed a TV show I might view it on my computer. I like being able to get up and do other things while viewing TV vs. watching something on the computer.
Might as well answer this. Nobody cares, just skip past.
What determines whether or not I watch something on the TV or the computer is whether or not the Xbox can play the format. The Xbox is hooked up to the home wireless network, so we can access whatever we want on the computer on the TV. However, there are formats it cannot play, and those formats I tend to watch on the computer. I definitely do not prefer it.
I also miss the big screen TV. I was spoiled by 32 inches.
I do, on occasion, watch a TV show or movie on my computer.
What determines whether I watch it on TV versus computer? Well, as far as movies go if I don't have it I download it then I have to watch it on the computer. And I have no cable so any TV shows I watch have to be on the computer. Oh the joys of being poor. x.x
I watch television shows (which really should be called "programs" since they are accessible on other types of digital broadcasting media now) every day on my computer. The television set in the living room is really just for playing video games on. What determines if I watch a program on the computer vs. the TV is if the program is available online. Programs that are, can be watched just about any time (until the expire). Sure you can use the DVR to record your favorite television shows, but if you live with 3 other room mates as I do, the TV is not just for you. Hence the streaming or downloadable factor determines if I watch them online- which really means if I watch them at all.
I watch a LOT of shows on my computer. And all my DVDs unless I'm watching them with my mom.
My computer is pretty much my TV, and I can watch whatever I want on it because no one else really goes in my room.
I primarily use it to watch shows lately because most of what I've been watching is British, and so I have no other way to see them except over the internet. I have a show to watch nearly every night of the week, and with work I usually have to watch them late at night, so even if they are things I could usually see on normal TV here, I miss it and have to find it online. In fact, as I'm typing this I've come online to look for the newest episode of Lost.
Here's my current weekly list:
Sun - Being Human (until next week anyways)
Mon - The Big Bang Theory, and occasionally How I Met Your Mother and Chuck and House
Tues - Lost
Thurs - Project Runway
Fri - QI
These are also supplemented with various episodes of Top Gear, whatever random Sci Fi stuff I have lying around, my new favorite Misfits, and my Netflix DVDs that I exchange every other week or so.
If the cable is out or something like that then I'm on the computer to watch it or do whatever. I think it determines what to watch because if I'm looking to watch something specific then I will go online to one of the sites and watch it because I know exactly what I want to watch. If I just want to watch something on cable, I normally just flip through channels until I find something somewhat interesting and leave it on. I especially watch movies on the internet more than tv because there are a lot of good movies that are new and hosted online.
For the sake of this question I am going to assume that watching via Netflix on my X-Box 360 is considered the same as watching on my computer.
Frankly? A LOT. I watched all of The Office on my computer and now I'm working on Farscape as well as any episodes of Doctor Who that I missed. I am so happy I have Netflix because it is so convenient; that right there is why I don't watch shows on the telly. Don't get me wrong. I will watch something on T.V. if it's on when I am in the mood to watch T.V. For the most part I have the Discovery Channel on (I love me some Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs) but otherwise I watch through Netflix. Oh, and I also watched all of House M.D. via Netflix sending me each disc in order.
Today I found myself wanting to be more active. I wish I had oodles of money so that I could by the following items: A bow staff, an archery set, some tonfas, more contact juggling spheres, and a skateboard. Those are all things I would enjoy doing more of, granted I've never skateboarded before but I think it's something I would be decent at. I think that maybe I'm just getting cabin fever, eh?
I need to be more social with my time, but I like my privacy. In fact, I realized today that there are secrets even my best friends don't know about me. Not skeletons, just secrets that I don't trust to others. And that's part of it - I don't trust people. I took a "learn more about yourself" survey today and it said that I will always have many admirers throughout my life. Now whether that implies people taking interest in me romantically or if it means people who have high opinions of me, I'm not sure. But it never feels like I have admirers. If I do have admirers, then I wish they would speak up and let me know because I would sure appreciate the thought. ^_^
Every day... in fact we turned off cable because we could watch just about everything we wanted to on the computer. We can stream Netflix via internet to the tv. Watch movies on demand as well as tv on hulu. I believe that cable is the past and the future is all internet based entertainment.
Most of the time,I'm actually watching my television. Well, it on but I'm not really paying attention to it. I watch more movies on my laptop than on the DVD player. I just prefer the laptop, I guess because it's closer. Closer to the action so to say. I do watch the occasional t.v. show on my laptop. Maybe an episode I missed episodes or a favorite episode of another show. I'll look on the internet to see if it's on there. But it's rare now-a-days that I watch movies. I don't own many.
Depending on the programming, there are times when I find myself watching TV or movies on my computer. Generally when I miss the show at its original viewing date, or am catching up on an older show that I don't have on dvd. What determines watching it on my TV verus my computer is time. TV has scheduled programming, where as online I can generally watch anything I'd like, at anytime I'd like. So, if I find myself busy when a show I want to watch is airing, I'll catch it online at a time that works for me.
what determines whether i watch on the tv or on the computer? fucking ads, that's what. |: i hate commercials with a burning, raging passion. every ten minutes HI ANOTHER AD. NOW YOU NEED TO ZONE OUT AND WAIT UNTIL THE MOVIE OR SHOW COMES BACK THAT YOU WERE SO INTERESTED IN. again, and again, and again. i'd rather not watch television and just sit online. and i can also pause and what have you. pick and choose what i want to watch. most of what's on television is absolute drivel anyway.
The only shows I really like on TV right now are Pokemon and Flapjack. Pokemon is on at 7AM and it shows up on Cartoon Network Video half a week later, so unless it's an episode I'm CRAZY excited for I wait. Flapjack I watch on TV, but usually on demand, because I'm so behind on it anyway that there's usually SOMETHING I haven't seen up on there, and new is new, right?
Then there's One Piece, which is online simulcast or busy, so yeah.
every week I watch Castle, Greek, Dancing with the Stars, Scrubs, Modern Family, V, FlashFoward, 10 Things I Hate About You, The Middle, Melrose Place, and Cougar Town depending on the weekly schedule.
Unfortunately due to my work schedule I have almost no time to watch TV so I watch it late at night when I have nothing to do.
Lately, I watch everything on my laptop. I don't have a tv and my roommate took the tv from the living room recently, so there goes watching anything out there. I'm too all over the place to actually watch something when it originally airs. So, unless I'm at home or just really free to find a tv, I'll be watching it online.
I watch TV shows on my computer semi-regularly. Generally, if there is a hard to find show that I want to see then I go online to find it. Usually, this means I go to hulu.com.
I generally watch movies on my tv; However, when there is nothing on tv, I will then turn to the computer and see what is playing on youtube or fearnet or some other free movie site.
I started watching as many as I can on my PC because I prefer the really short commercials to the commercial blocks I get on TV. The best thing is that I get NO local commercials.
i rarely watch shows on my pc because i have a dvr , that recorders all my show. now if i come home and my boyfriend stop one of my recording because he was watching on of his that inferred with his besides getting furious i cool down and watch it on my pc.
I usually watch tv shows online when I miss them on tv or when they conflict with another tv show I watch and only one of them gets put online. usually shows that don't get streamed online take priority over ones that do lol.
As a college student, I'm generally too busy to watch TV. When I do, though, I watch it on my computer, because then I can multi-task. I watch TV on my computer at home, too. I think what determines whether I watch my TV or computer depends on whether I'm watching the television show in its correct time slot, or if I'd rather watch it later. TV on the computer is so great that the show is online twenty minutes after it finishes on live TV. So I'm not missing anything. The last time I watched an actual television was the Superbowl. And that's because it wasn't online!
I always watch TV shows on my computer, whether I’m watching them in real time or online. I have a converter and software that allows me to hook my TV cable up to my computer. My laptop has a 17” screen, so that’s big enough to watch shows on without straining my eyes too much.
As for movies, those are also almost always on my computer. I have a big, old TV, but that’s mostly used for video games. The last time I watched a movie on my TV was more than a year ago when I had a really nasty virus that made my computer almost unusable for a while.
One very big advantage of watching movies and shows on my computer is that I can watch them in bed!
For almost a year I was without a TV as the sound died. I was putting my daughter through college (Up north)so I wasn't about to spend the money to have it fixed just for me so I went without.
I got involved with internet sites and writing so I didn't miss it much. However every once in awhile nI would watch some "Doll house" or "Supernatural".
I had a 50 inch tv before. I now own a 63 inch Blueray flat screen with surround sound. It's better on TV.
Generally, I only watch programs online that I can't see on TV. Anime that hasn't been translated and released in the US, or shows that are no longer being aired, and so on. I subscribe to shows I like that are in both formats, as well.
And really, I'm way behind on my hulu queue. After a while, there were just too many other things to do online than watch TV, just as there are too many things to do online to watch TV on TV, which is why I rarely do.
In both formats, I have a backlog right now. I guess I should be watching one or the other right now, shouldn't I? XD
I barely watch anything on the internet because I usually have so many DVD's to catch up on. I have watched a few TV shows online though when I happened to miss them on TV.
I never watch a movie on my pc. I think watching a movie on pc is kinda stupid. Unless you are traveling somewhere where you wont have access to a dvd player & tv. As for watching a TV show on the pc... only time I will ever do that is if: 1) i dont own the show on dvd 2) show isnt on dvd yet 3)show is not a show that re-runs or 4) i missed part an episode and want to see it now and cant wait for the re-run. I hate how everyone is putting everything online and on the pc. We are getting too dependant on just one item. TV shows should stay on TV, Movies should stay on DVD n TV n at theaters and PC stuff should stay on PC.
Well to be honest, I only have Top Gear eps saved on my computer (I watched the Bolivia special twice yesterday), so I can't download much more on it anyway, but recently I've been watching episode after episode of Nevermind the Buzzcocks on youtube. I love Noel Fielding, but I am falling more and more in love with Simon Amstell (points to icon and animation below) and Bill Bailey. They're just too damn funny, and I wish they were both back. Phil is pretty cool as well...
Not many times only when I deemed it necesary . I usually watch on TV but if I miss it, because of my DVR or my brothers messing up with my DVR then I watch the show on the computer. Also if is an old show that is no longer broadcast on TV, I watch it on the computer.
I don't often watch films on my PC, but I do watch quite a lot of TV through it by sheer dint of the fact that I am mainly interested in British TV and download almost all my favorite programs from various bittorrent sites for viewing on my computer. If I lived in Britain I might watch a little TV this way -- I'd probably try to find a way to download episodes of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" and a few other similar favorites, and I would watch some streaming video from our local NBC affiliate's news broadcasts -- but it wouldn't be anything like how it is now. There is simply no equivalent to the UK's "Ashes to Ashes" , "Life on Mars", "Who Do You Think You Are?", "Loose Women", "Have I Got News for You", "Never Mind the Buzzcocks", "Room 101", "Worzel Gummidge", "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet", "Top of the Pops", "South Bank Show", "This is Your Life", "Blankety Blank", "Swap Shop", "Old Grey Whistle Test", "Panorama", "Question Time", "Mastermind", "University Challenge"... I could go on.

What determines whether or not I view movies and/or television shows on my computer is, simply, whether or not they are on Netflix!
I only really watch movies on my computer when travelling.
Almost daily.
& the Olympics!
I watch TV shows on the computer often, but not too often. Only when I miss an episode or if there's an episode in a season that I don't own.
I watch TV on my computer whenever my recording device screws up and I miss the show I was trying to record.
Haha wow, I kinda got a little off topic there.
(although my first love on that front is getting to watch Mewtwo Returns in the original Japanese...*wibbles*)
Haha, I'm such a geek.
I watch TV and Movies via Netflix. I watch them on my PC and my TV. Thanks for reading.
Men han liker også sport,
og det blir jeg syk i sjelen
av å se på.
På NRK nett-tv ser jeg på
Nytt på nytt og Skavlan,
og jeg ser det på datan fordi
romkameraten ser på sport
og det er hans tv.
Andre program jeg liker er
Bygdeliv (som er slutt nå) og
Løvebakken - NRK har
gått forbi BBC i kvalitet.
NRK er simpelthen best.
Hvor mange timer det blir tilsammen?
Ett par timer to til tre ganger i uken.
Men tv'n står på oftere enn det.
Desverre.
Considering I don't have a tv, everything gets watched on a computer screen. So always I guess.
I don't watch many TV shows or movies on my computer, since I try to watch them on tv or in the movie theater when I can. If for some reason I miss the show due to being busy, or if it isn't readily available to view it, then I watch the shows or movies on my computer.
I prefer to watch on the TV so it honestly depends on whether or not my DVR recorded the show I wanted to watch.

I don't watch TV on my computer and the only time I watch movies on it are if I'm on a long, overnight Train ride.
[INSERT PROFOUND THOUGHT HERE]
really? "reserved for sponsored question"? i thought my answer was only fitting.
I run movies threw my DVD player because it upgraids to a beter qualitiy picture. Not that it maters - My TV is my moniter.
That is all.
Since I'm a cheapo and refuse to pay for cable, I watch all the shows I like from HBO and Showtime online! So, that is all. LOL!
Yeah. Lots of stuff here. :D
So, if I find myself busy when a show I want to watch is airing, I'll catch it online at a time that works for me.
i do it from time to time:)
what determines whether i watch on the tv or on the computer? fucking ads, that's what.
Never.
