what_is_spotify.jpgSpotify is THE new leader in music platforms. The service originated in the UK and began offering US users accounts slowly this year to build hype. Boy did it work. The constant flow of tweets by new Spotify users have been loud and clear: Spotify is awesome!

Spotify users have access to millions of songs right at their fingertips via live streaming. Best part is, because the music plays instantly, there's no waiting for downloads or worrying about cramming up your hard drive.

spotify.pngThe social sharing aspect of Spotify is better than any other platform I have come across, making it effortless to listen to what your friends are listening to. Of course, if you don't want your friends knowing what you're listening to on repeat, i.e. "MMMBop" by Hanson (because it's just so catchy!), simply enable Private Listening.

With the social sharing you have access to endless playlists, but here are just a few of my top picks.

Grungie by user crashey
Some days I just want to throw on an old flannel shirt and listen to bands from the 90s, like Third Eye Blind and Candlebox. On those days, I listen to Grungie by user crashey.

The Kings of Booty Acoustic by user _faith
While I have never had a love song written for me, I like to pretend by listening to cuties like Matt Nathanson, Ryan Adams and John Mayer confess their undying love to me. When I feel like being serenaded to, I listen to The Kings of Booty Acoustic by user faith.

Top 100 tracks currently in the UK by user spotify
When I bought my new car it came with satellite radio and I noticed that the top songs played on BBC Radio 1 overseas became hits in the U.S. a few months later. I keep up with the hits overseas by listening to Top 100 tracks currently in the UK by user spotify.

Digster AUSTIN CITY LIMITS 2011 by user digster.fm
Just because I couldn't attend the Austin City Limits Music Festival didn't mean I was going to miss out on all the bands. Thanks to user digster.fm, I can listen to  Digster AUSTIN CITY LIMITS 2011 in the comfort of my own home, minus the porta potties and crowds.

David Guetta dance playlist by user emimusicus
My stamina during workouts depends on my playlist. I have to the best upbeat music or else I might as well be eating a tub of ice cream on the couch watching TV, while my motivation walks out the front door. The David Guetta dance playlist by user emimusicus keeps me moving to the tempo on the elliptical machine.

We all enjoy different types of music depending on the mood we're in, what we're doing, and where we're at. Spotify recognized that and created an amazing music platform that allows its users to listen anytime, anywhere, to whatever they want. Now that is music to my ears.
