Cool Camera Bag Giveaway!

Free_Camera_Bag_Giveaway_Sweepstakes.jpgIt's been a common complaint for us DSLR-toting ladies: traditional camera bags are ugly, unwieldy, and inconvenient. But the days of being saddled with squat "gear bags" are finally over! Several women photographers, who also happen to have an extra helping of creative genius and drive, have designed pretty, functional and all around awesome bags that protect your camera and your style sensibilities.

Here are a few of my favorites:

epiphanie-lyric-bag.jpgEpiphanie Bags
The creation of photographer and blogger Maile Wilson Epiphanie Bags* come in seven pretty, light, and versatile styles, with padded inserts that can be reconfigured to fit your lenses, flash, wallet and favorite sunglasses. One the extra fun things about the site is that the "bag models" are all active blogger/photographers, so you can feel like you're getting a smidge of their stardust and talent along with your dream camera bag!

All seven styles have something to recommend them. The recently added/new favorite Lyric style ($159) has an external pocket that's perfect for your iPad, and the Clover and Paris ($184.99 each) are both big enough to hold your 15" Macbook Pro.

*Note: Epiphanie Bags is a client of Clever Girls, but our love for Maile and her bags started long before our business relationship!

Kelly Moore
Photographer Kelly Moore is another woman who wanted a better bag option, so she made a wishlist. The result is a series of satchels, hobos and totes -- which work for men or women! -- in a range of colors that will tempt photographers, travelers and girls who just love bags.

One of the best things about the site is that there are several photos for each style/color, including on a model so you can see the scale of the bag on a person. Plus they show the bags with a wide variety of the crazy stuff that we really put in our bags. Like popcorn.

Yes, popcorn.

The Mimi ($199) is the perfect black satchel bag, in fact you probably already own one that looks just like it, but isn't lined for camera safety. Now you can have both!

If you want a bigger bag that can accommodate a 17" laptop, look no further than the Libby Bag ($249) in orange. Kinda giant, kinda fashion-forward and totally perfect.

Emera

The four simple and elegant styles of Emera camera bag were created by Nathiya, a jewelry designer (Pineapple Seed prepare to also fall in love with everything if you click through!) with a FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising) degree, who got into photography. Just like the rest of us, she was unhappy with the bags on the market, and just like the women on this list, she has the skill and talent to do something about it.

You have to love the Kate Spade-like boxiness of the the Classic Canvas Tote ($169),  including the little metal feet that keep it off the ground, and seven padded compartments, to keep your lenses from colliding and cracking. Make sure to check out the cool video that shows you exactly how much you can stash in this tote!

porteen gear.jpg

Porteen Gear
Designer/Photographer Robyn Porteen is the genius behind Porteen Gear, her semi-boho etsy shop. An experienced, award-winning photographer, Robyn also crafts these gorgeous, handmade bags, like the stunning Red Distressed Leather bag ($150).

She even offers you a "design your own bag" option, where you can choose from three bag sizes and a list of available fabrics which change as she gets in new stock. Perfect if you really want to get away from the look and feel of those black nylon camera bags, and carry something functional that is also a reflection of your personality.

Epiphanie Bag Giveway!

If all of this talk about fabulous camera bags makes you want your own, you're in luck, because we're giving one away!
