20 Stylish Cases for iPads & eReaders
By Kate Pruitt (from Design Sponge) on November 30, 2010
One of the great parts of owning an iPad or an eReader, beyond the
ability to have hundreds of books at your fingertips, must be the thrill
of deciding how to protect and accessorize the fun new gadget. It
brings me right back to junior high, when my English teacher Ms.
Rockhouse would have us spend the first day of class covering our books
with brown paper and labeling them with our name and address. Kind of
nerdy, but I'll never forget the simple joy of carrying my very own
freshly covered textbooks. As our reading devices evolve, I think we
should allow ourselves the opportunity to raise the quality level of
their protection from paper shopping bags. A well designed and
functional case that suits our tastes, as well as our portability needs,
sounds about right. Luckily, there are companies solely devoted to the purpose of creating chic and utilitarian cases for iPads and eReaders of all types and generations. I'm particularly impressed with the offerings of M-Edge, especially since they've managed to add a fun dose of color while keeping their designs sophisticated and minimal. If you like to have things that no one else does, I highly recommend spending some quality time roaming Etsy for custom made cases. While their huge offering may be a bit hit-and-miss at times, you're more likely to find great one-of-a-kind items on Etsy than anywhere else-- usually at a great price, too.
I know gift giving time is sneaking up on us quickly, and with the growing popularity of portable media, you're bound to have someone on your list who would love one of these. With so many different eReaders to choose from, and great accessories available for each, it's tough to choose just one. For someone entering the market this holiday season, which e-reading gadget would you recommend?
