10 Tech Gifts for Everyone in the Family

best_tech_gifts_2011.jpgA mom’s work is never done, especially during the holidays. I’m getting a jump on my shopping with a list of cool tech gifts for everyone in the family. After all, I do work at Intel, I love technology, and everyone expects me to gift the cool gadgets. Hopefully my picks save you time. We elves need to stick together, you know.

For a son:

These are adorable stocking stuffers. C-3PO, Darth Vader, Yoda, and the entire cast of characters is here. Each one stores up to four gigabytes, so the force will always be with them.
($25-$30 at ThinkGeek.com)

Wings of Liberty is a military sci-fi strategy thriller. StarCraft II is widely recognized as one of the best PC video games of all time. ESRB content rating: Teen (13+)
(Prices vary)

nintendo_dec.jpg

Best: Nintendo 3DS
Maybe the coolest gaming console on the planet, the Nintendo 3DS features real 3-D graphics without the need for special glasses. The gameplay is incredible!
(From $200 at Amazon.com)

For a daughter:
Does she tap out 20 texts for every voice call? Then a more finger-friendly phone will brighten up Christmas morning. The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is a high-performance, Android-powered smart phone with a five-row QWERTY keyboard and much more.
(From $79.99 with a T-Mobile service plan)

kindle_touch_2.jpgBetter: Kindle Touch
My daughter is a voracious reader, so she’ll love her own Kindle Touch, which features an easy-to-read E Ink and a touchscreen display. But what I love about the Kindle is the content! There are more than a million books, newspapers, and magazines now available.
(From $99 at Amazon.com)

canon_powershot_slph_pink.jpg

Does your daughter have an artist’s eye that’s outgrown her cell phone camera? Give her a bigger pixel palette this holiday season. The Canon PowerShot ELPH 100 HS captures incredibly high resolution images and its lens can zoom up to 16 times for picture-perfect detail.
(From $137.99 at Best Buy)

For a husband:
What will those elves think of next? This digital camera/camcorder takes 12 megapixel stills and full 1080 movies. It even has a built-in swivel tripod plus a touchscreen display. Maybe he’ll even remember to bring it to special events!
(From $250 at Amazon.com)

ipad2-black_tech_gift.png

Better: Apple iPad 2
How can you go wrong with the most popular tablet? Unlike St. Nick, the Apple iPad 2 is super, super thin. Plus it has front and rear cameras and an awesome battery life. You can even get it engraved for free if you buy directly from Apple.
(From $500 at Apple Store)
sony_internet_tv.jpgBest: Sony Internet TV
3-D TV is so last year. If your man has been as good as mine, he deserves the Sony Internet TV. My husband Bill can watch the bowl games in one window while searching player stats and taunting his college buds in another. Be forewarned: it’s better than mistletoe! ;-)
(From $499 – $999 at Best Buy)

For me:
I just bought the one called Pink Sparrow for my laptop. These are excellent gifts for girlfriends too!
(From $29.99 at SkinIt.com)
My fave is the DMP-BDT210. It’s got full HD 3-D technology, built-in Wi-Fi, a simple user interface, and an excellent suite of streaming-media services. Perfect for watching It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas eve, of course.
This year I might splurge on something really special. At only 2.43 pounds, the new ASUS Zenbook is light as a feather, but has a powerful 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor that gives it true heavyweight performance. This is one of my favorite Intel technology introductions of the year.
(From $1049.99 at JR.com)

For anyone, anytime:

snowman_card.pngPriceless: An e-Card
The best gift you can give is your smile and caring thoughts, and you can send them around the world on a beautiful e-card. These cards from Macmillan Cancer Support in the U.K. are my faces.
(Yours for a donation)
What’s on your holiday shopping list this year?
