6 iPhone Apps You Can’t Live Without

Weight Watchers Mobile

If you are a “tracker” (that’s my insider Weight Watchers speak) you should be using the mobile app. Not only is it a convenient way to track your points, but it is an invaluable resource when it comes to recipes (both finding and building), evaluating restaurant menus, tracking weight and workouts, all in a beautifully-designed, intuitive app. This is not your mother’s Weight Watchers–anyone interested in mobile app design and usability should check out Weight Watchers Mobile. It’s a Webby People’s Voice winner for a reason. Not just for iPhone, either.

What are your favorite mobile apps? Please share them in the comments below.

Makes me feel so nerdy always demanding that the apps do something important before i install. What makes matter worse is that i really love the nerd charts on this app for…climbing the social ladder!

    http://www.socialladderapp.com

now i can download the run pee app for myself AND my mom!

Considering I don’t even own an iPhone.. yeah.. yes I CAN live without these “apps”.

People need to take their noses out of their phones and hug their loved ones more often… that’s my life scoop for yay!

    • Ugh

Yeah, instead of being on their awful iPhones, they should spend more time giving others hypocritical advice on random message boards. Thanks for greatly helping me to be a better person! (Electronic hug to you)

      • Chaz

        LOL

to those not on an iPhone…do you still have a rotary phone at home?

        • azhansel

yes, and I’m going to offer it on E-bay in 2025 – it’s my retirement nestegg.

I get that this is a female-oriented site, so I will let Pinterest and Weight Watchers slide, but I can’t understand why these two apps are included:

RunPee: “Must have”? This assumes a high number of incontinent people among your readers. Also, who is to say that the best scenes in a movie are the ones that drive the plot? Is it really worth antagonizing your fellow theater-goers with the light from your screen?

Socialcam: Why force your friends to install another chatty Facebook app just to see your video? Uploading directly from Facebook or iPhone camera is easier and less obnoxious.

    • imjustsayin78

Ditto!!! I’m a woman, and I really found these to be … meh. I was hoping for some real enlightenment. ;)

I love the IMDB app! Watching a TV show or movie I always see people but either don’t know or can’t remember their names, particularly for old films and TV shows I didn’t watch, I can just go to IMDB app and the search is easy and fast, tap the full cast button and voila, question answered. They also have a complete list of all Best Movie Oscar winners back to 1929. Man, I’d be lost without this app.

  • imjustsayin78

MUST have Fitocracy!!!! Such a cool program/site, earn achievements for workouts. I love it!

  • Washingsocks

    Apparently I must cease living.

    • http://campkohler.blogspot.com/ Camp Kohler – Sacto CA

They have an app for that. When you request to be killed, 10 nearby murderers will be sent your GPS coordinates.

  • Michael

Oh, I can live without them alright! In fact, I can live without ANY Apple app. You couldn’t GIVE me, or pay me to touch an iPhone. Or, for that matter, ANYTHING Apple makes! Don’t need Apple. Don’t want Apple. Never owned Apple. Never will own Apple. Overpriced. Over hyped. Overrated. Besides that I use Android powered smartphones, superior, and I don’t have some company telling me what I can, or can’t have for apps like Apple dictates to app makers, and users.

    • Matthew

Strange how you can have such a strong opinion about something that you have never owned or apparently used.

    • adjeff8

Enjoy your viruses. Me myself, as a 20 year Mac user, I have never had a virus. You get what you pay for, Pal.

Oh, and the Genius bar alone makes buying a Apple product worth a few extra bucks

      • azhansel

the virus free environment that Apple enjoys is more about market penetration than system protection. – want to create a stir you go after the 90% not the 10% market holder!!!!!

  • Milwoky

    Goodbye cruel world

  • GetAlife

Really? I can’t *live* without these apps? People dying all over the world from malnutrition and disease and you’re telling me that my hope for life depends upon iPhone apps. You don’t live in reality. You are about as shallow as a human being can be these days. Get a life. If you want to tell me that these are great iPhone apps, fine, but to tell me I can’t live without them is just stupid. Obviously you mean this as a hyperbole. Bad choice for a hyperbole then.

    • republican8

Take a chill pill moron, its a figure of speech numnuts

      • erasmocepeda

We all know it is a figure of speech. And a pretty dumb and out of the line, don’t you agree?

        • Chaz

no, not really. Its an article about APPS. If you want to preach, go over to the religious blog.

  • acaldwell1958

    i need to RUN PEE!!!!

  • duh

All soap-box preaching aside…these choices really are uninspired!

  • erasmocepeda

    So dumb! Amazing

  • erasmocepeda

He is calm down. The one who is nuts is the silly writer using her out-of-this-world hyperboles for praising such dumb things as RunPee, Pinterest and sort of.

Now, if you think the writer choose a PERFECT choice, it’s fine. But as you like that choice, there are people who do not, and it is some intolerance from you saying “calm down”. But then you go on and on making fun on saving the world. Yes you can, just keen and eyesight on yourself, Ugh

Wow. In 18 years as a paramedic, I never realized how many codes I’ve worked that ,ust have been caused by the patient not having these apps. Maybe we should replace our defibrillators with iPhones preloaded with these apps. After all, if a person can’t live without them, they have to be at least as important as, say, having a heartbeat.

  • jerkface8585

I’m waiting for the new app that makes your screen look bigger. That way my android using friends will quit laughing at my tiny little screen.

  • Dragonstyle

STEPHANIA–Take a moment to digest your comments–maybe you will rethink your wording on your next assignment.

  • TheRestOfUs

It’d be awesome if all you people who think anybody is serious about not living without these apps would stop reading this blog.

  • IPhone User

Cute suggestions, but I’ll pass. Not sure why everyone is getting so bent out of shape, the article is a nice fit for publisher – people need to check that before going postal.

  • rrrr

    fuck off

  • dukenukem3d

hehehe I don’t even have an Iphone or any other smartphones.

  • Rebecca

Seriously, the apps may or may not trip your trigger, but at least someone is taking the time to post them. Is this really all you have to bitch about?

  • Alex

Thanks for encouraging more people to use their phones in theaters and disrupt everyone else’s movie-going experience!

Apple zombies need to be shot on sight, or at least taken out with an axe

  • Frank

what? where do u get these can’t leave without? i LIVE without them

  • http://twitter.com/TexXxas_Made Joe Kuykendall

Why isn’t Porn Town app on here? To many, it’s an app they can’t live without either…article’s biased.

  • http://www.facebook.com/peter.joshua.3766 Peter Joshua

I am mortified that I didn’t know that I was dead, as I don’t have and never will have a single one of these junk apps. “Run Pee”? How much did Stephiana Pampona Butler get paid to plug these trash apps?

  • user1495

wtf – not even an interesting app… can’t live without?!?!?

  • Best_Options

Wow , talk about lame Apps

  • Janina

Nonsense. BTW: I noticed in my class that the students who use their smart phones a lot are all heading for F’s as final grades.

  • http://www.facebook.com/steven.irvin.714 Steven Irvin

very good point, and true. hate it how the app parlance is so mindlessly equated to Apple. and how business, newpaper, etc. web sites will use a portal named “iphone apps” when any user can get them. d u m b.

  • Texancobra

I never dreamed they would come out with an app telling me when to pee…..geez

  • john256

when “run pee” is on a list of best apps, i know i’m on the wrong list.

  • Steve

You’re wrong….I can live w/o all of these apps.
