Best Father’s Day Gifts for Geeky Dads

MightyGirlPOV.jpgIf it’s the newest, coolest, most expensive new gadget, your dad already waited in the line. Here, he got you one too.

So what to get the wired pop who already has one of everything, plus the upgrade? Here are some quirky options to expand his gadget collection, and satisfy his acquisition instinct. If he already has one, at least you’ll have dibs on his old one.

Fitbit, $100
Your dad’s been meaning to work out, but the closest he’s come to a gym is installing the family Kinect. The Fitbit tracks your daily activity including calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled and sleep quality, and then uploads the data wirelessly to Fitbit.com, which provides info graphics on overall health.

Because your dad has always wanted to be a superspy. Also, he’s always losing his USB keys.

Dad’s carryon just got a couple pounds lighter. Why do we need laptops again?

Alarm Dock, $40
He’s been using his phone as his alarm clock for a decade. Might as well formalize the relationship.

JamBox, $200
A compact wireless speaker or speakerphone with a big punch. Now he won’t have to bother installing a speaker system in the treehouse this summer.
For the tech enthusiast who still likes to doodle.

My dad is big into fishing and at the end of the day he’s always wishing that he could unwind to a little TV except antenna reception is horrid. He does have an Android phone so this year I got my dad a Sling Adapter so that he can watch TV on his Android while he’s waiting at the doctor’s office or stuck anywhere outside of the house while his favorite shows are airing. I work for DISH Network and they have a deal for new and existing customers to get a free Sling. Basically you can watch your TV everywhere you go on multiple mobile devices, so even if my dad decides not to use it on his trips he can still watch live TV on his phone anywhere.
