I will admit it right here and right now. I adore Christmas music. I am
not even going to pretend otherwise. Every year on the day after
Thanksgiving I put Handel’s “Messiah” and all of my other Holiday music
on my iPod and then I secretly listen to seasonal music for a month.
Well, it was a secret. Now I guess I have admitted it to the entire Internet. As if admitting my holiday music addiction wasn’t bad enough I will now share my 10 favorites with you thereby inflicting pain you Michael Buble lovers and revealing disturbing personality traits at the same time.
God bless us, Every one!
Nothing like a good Dickens reference to kick off a list, so away we go.
10) Santa Claus is Coming to Town – Bruce Springsteen
How could I not include The Boss?
No, I mean that. I think my Jersey friends would knife me if I left this one out.
*waves in a northeasterly direction*
9) Christmas is a Time to Say I Love You – Billy Squier
What? I like Billy Squier. Make your own list.
8) Christmas in Hollis – Run D.M.C.
This is probably the only song on this list you can really dance to. I miss Run-DMC.
7) 12 Days of Christmas – Bob and Doug McKenzie
Even if I wouldn’t love getting a beer in a tree from my true love I would still adore this song. Seven packs of smokes? Two turtlenecks? Three French Toast? Hilarious. Also, good gifts.
6) Christmas Oratorio – Camille Saint-Saens
Yes, I know it is more than one song. Like you don’t already think I’m jacked up for including this, if I singled out my favorite quintet it might just push you over the edge. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio is pretty darned good too. I also highly recommend Handel’s Messiah, but part of that one is about Easter so it doesn’t really qualify for this list.
You don’t have to agree with me, but just listen to this.
It takes my breath away.
