Online Guide: Best of Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here, and there’s plenty of fun to be found online both now and on game day. (Not a fan? Esquire rounds up “11 memorable attempts at Super Bowl Counterprogramming” like Puppy Bowl and the ill-fated In Living Color Live).

Super Bowl Video Online

Unlike the State of the Union Address, you can’t technically watch Super Bowl XLIV streamed online. But Hulu’s NFL Network has added eight shows you can watch online, including Super Bowl Highlights and Season in Review. Plus, watch video highlights from past seasons of all the NFL teams. CBS’s Countdown to Kickoff is a frequently updated news and video feed. And of course, if you just watch the Super Bowl for the ads, you can catch a preview of some of the best and worst ads online now – and watch them as many times as you like (more on that later).

Who’s Liveblogging

If you can’t watch the game live, or just like a little computer
commentary along with the real thing, you’ll find plenty of blogs to
read now and live on Game Day. Check out Deadspin, ESPN’s Super Bowl 44, NFL Gridiron Gab, and Sports Illustrated‘s Super Bowl XLIV. And you’ll find fun pre-game liveblogging and photos of the players and cheerleaders all over the web like here.

More Fun Stuff

At the NFL’s new Tag the Super Bowl site, see featured #SB44 content, photos on Flickr and tweets tagged by fans, in a cool interactive grid. Spike has lots of fun collections of past Super Bowl ads, including banned commercials. I4U is keeping a running list of the 2010 ads that have already been released online. On game day at YouTube Ad Blitz, watch the ads as they air and vote on your favorite after the game. The New York Daily News rounds up the best iPhone and iPod Touch apps for football fans
(though, sorry: “The NFL’s exclusive deal with Sprint means iPhone
owners are out of luck Super Bowl Sunday if they’re looking for an
official, all-encompassing app like baseball’s state-of-the-art MLB At
Bat”). And on Facebook, visit Target’s “Super Love Sender” site and send football-themed Valentine’s Day cards to help charities.

Unreal to me that you can’t officially stream the superbowl online. I would bet that some crafty hacker will setup a stream though – the day of the show do a twitter search for superbowl streaming and see what comes up!

I want some pulled pork sandos but will have to look at the healthy options to comply with the 2010 diet!

Bring back Bud vs. Bud Light except in 3D. When will the Super Bowl be in 3D?
